About the Drakensberg

Drakensberg Mountains, Kwazulu Natal

The Drakensberg mountains are a favourite for photographers and hikers. There are multiple hiking routes that allow you to camp in caves or take a dip in rock pools of clear streams and waterfalls. The breathtaking views and rock art paintings are must see features of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park.

Mountains, hiking and photography isn't all the area has to offer. The world famous Drakensberg Boys Choir School is based in central Drakensberg. You can also book helicopter flights and white water rafting, or visit the Falcon Ridge Birds of Prey Centre in Champaign Valley.

There are many cafe's, nurseries and arts and crafts shops in the area, the most popular of which is the Thokozisa Mountain Cafe and Indigenous Nursery in Central Drakensberg.

Hiring an accredited tour guide who can show you the sights and tell you stories of the ancient places and people is highly recommended if you want to make the most out of a holiday to the Drakensberg area of KwaZulu-Natal.
